Students and staff at Melbourn Village College are celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results, with significant improvements in English and maths outcomes.
This year, grade 4/C outcomes are above the national average, with a remarkable 16 per cent increase on last year’s results.
Melbourn Village College students celebrateBoys at the school made great progress, with a 21 per cent increase in the number achieving a grade 4 or above in English and maths. Outcomes for disadvantaged students have also improved significantly.
Among the highest achievers are:
▶ Max achieved seven grade 9s, two grade 8s and one grade 6 and will continue his studies at Hills Road Sixth Form College.
▶ Benji achieved two 9s, three 8s and five 7s;
▶ Sophie achieved two 9s, three 8s, four 7s and one 6,
▶ Jack achieved three 9s, five 8s and two 7s.

We are particularly pleased with the significant improvements in English and maths, the progress made by boys, and the continued reduction in achievement gaps for disadvantaged students.
“Our values of kindness, curiosity and resilience are central to our success. We see these qualities in our students every day, and today's results are a testament to the way they have embodied them throughout their school journey.”

Students will now progress to a range of exciting destinations, including sixth forms, colleges and apprenticeship pathways.
Ms Spencer added: “Today is about celebrating every student and recognising the unique journey that each of them has taken. We are grateful to our dedicated staff, supportive families and wider community who have worked alongside our young people throughout their time with us.”
