Celebrations are under way at The Leys as pupils, who have “consistently demonstrated excellence” across the curriculum, collect a strong set of GCSE results.
This year, 73 per cent of all grades were awarded at 9-7, with 47 per cent at grades 9-8, and 23 per cent at the highest grade 9.
The Leys in CambridgeParticular congratulations go to the school’s highest achievers: Emily BT, Hugo F, Joanna H, Saachi K, Elva N, Daniel P, and Vita R.
There were notable successes across a broad range of subjects. In PE, 91 per cent of pupils achieved grades 9-7, while 84 per cent of drama grades were awarded at 9-8.
Meanwhile, 100 per cent of art grades were awarded at 9-7. A special mention goes to Elva N, who has been highlighted as one of the top performers nationally in art by the Cambridge OCR exam board.
Beyond the academic achievements, this year group also includes finalists in national boys’ and girls’ hockey competitions, has delivered outstanding drama, music and dance performances, and features pupils recognised for their expertise and leadership in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF).
Headteacher Dr Clare Ives said: “We are immensely proud of our Year 11 pupils and all they have achieved. “These excellent GCSE results represent the culmination of three years in which this cohort has made the most of the rich opportunities offered by a Leys education.”
“Through their engagement in every aspect of school life, they have not only secured strong academic outcomes but have also developed character, independence and life skills which will be vital for their continued educational pathway.
“As a year group, they contribute richly to our community. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage, through service, leadership or countless co-curricular activities, they demonstrate the curiosity, character and determination that will serve them exceptionally well as they move into Sixth Form studies and beyond.
“My sincere thanks go to our outstanding staff for their dedication to excellence and for the care, encouragement and expertise they bring to every pupil's journey. We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026 and look forward to seeing all that they accomplish next.”
