So, the city wants us to vote on increasing our taxes to pay for police and fire protection. Why doesn’t the City Council look ahead to their upcoming windfall of increased income from property taxes on the apartment buildings they have approved and earmark those funds for the police and fire protection?

Ending the TC Line. Well, that is very sad. That’s one of my favorite parts of the paper. Why don’t we end the apartment building in Longmont and keep the TC Line? I think a lot of people are going to be very upset with ending the TC Line. It’s a good reflection of the area. Bring it back.

• The decision to shut down the Times-Call TC Line silences a vital direct channel for community dialogue. For years, this public forum has given everyday Longmont residents a quick, unfiltered way to voice opinions, raise local concerns and engage with their neighbors on issues that matter most. In an era where local journalism is already contracting and digital spaces often feel fragmented or overly moderated, removing a community touchpoint like the TC Line feels like a step backwards. It strips away a unique tradition of grassroots accountability and public discord that cannot easily be replaced by standard social media comment sections. Longmont thrives when all residents have an accessible platform to speak up. I urge the paper to reconsider this decision and preserve a valued space for local voices.

• Please, reconsider your decision to curtail the TC Line. I would suggest you require people to give their names, and perhaps it’s renamed Short Takes or something like that. Making everyone write a letter to the editor is extreme, but getting the short opinions with people’s names identified with them I think a valuable for our community and create a local flavor for your newspaper.

• I’m just calling to thank the Times-Call for having the TC Line. I understand that the last TC Line will end Sept. 6. It’s been a wonderful addition to our newspaper. I’ve called in several times, and a lot of it’s been criticism and a lot has been thank yous. But again, thank you very much.

•  TC is the place that I go to look and see what the local gossip is, so I think it’s terrible idea to shut it down.

• Don’t attack private citizens.
• Don’t reference local candidates for office.
• Keep it brief.
• Calls may be shortened.
