Jesse Lebron “Larry” Chadwick
Jesse Lebron “Larry” Chadwick, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
He was a beloved husband, father, Grandad, brother, and friend. To know Larry was to know a man with a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a way of making people laugh. He had a personality that could light up a room, and he never missed an opportunity for a good joke or a clever comment. His laughter and sense of humor will be among the things his family remembers and misses most.
Larry loved the Lord and held his faith close to his heart. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now in Heaven, at peace and in the presence of his Savior. He loved his church and singing in the choir, and even sang a solo or two over the years.
He was a local barber for many years and in later years was an inspector with the State of Tennessee. He was also co-owner of Chattanooga Barber College.
Larry enjoyed the things that made life special to him. He loved fishing, spending time outdoors, and had a true appreciation for old cars. Whether he was talking about an old car, reminiscing about one he had known through the years, or simply enjoying a day with a fishing pole in his hand, he was happiest when he was doing the things he loved.
But nothing meant more to him than his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Brown; stepson, Greg Neely; sisters, Barbara Varnell and Linda Lawhorn; brother, Jerry Chadwick, as well as his parents, JB and Alma Chadwick.
Larry is survived by his wife, Glenda; son, Brian Chadwick (Brandy); daughter, Stephonie Cwik and stepdaughter, Tammy Maynard (Tommy); grandchildren, Jesse Brown (Kristen) and Jacob Brown (Shelby), Greg Maynard, Dr. Grayson Maynard Elder (Alec), Autumn Barbee (Alex) and Tyler Christian; great-grandson, Archer Barbee; several nieces, nephews, cousins, loving in-laws and extended family who loved him dearly.
The family would also like to thank The Lantern, especially CNA Temple, as well as Amedysis Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Maple Grove Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 4–8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.
A visitation will also be held from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Maple Grove Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Ronnie Dotson and Jeff Howell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Brown, Jacob Brown, Jesse Brown, Greg Maynard, Chuck Varnell, and Steve Prichard.
Larry will be laid to rest in New McDonald Eastview Cemetery.
