As Tropical Depression Two continued to move very slowly through the Gulf, it was forecast to become a tropical storm later Monday, forecasters said.
Tropical Depression Two formed in the Gulf on Sunday and was getting better organized on Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
According to the latest NHC update, the system was roughly 120 miles south of Panama City with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.

A tropical storm watch was issued for the Florida Panhandle, where there could be tropical storm conditions, but the system was not expected to have an impact on South Florida.
The northern Gulf could see up to 6″ of rain, storm surge topping 3 feet in some spots, and possible tropical storm force winds within the next 24-48 hours.
If it becomes a tropical storm, it will get the name Bertha.
