Los Angeles Police Department investigators have released few details about a triple homicide in an apartment building in the 1900 block of North Wilcox Avenue, near the Hollywood (101) Freeway.

The bodies of three male victims were found inside one of the units on July 29 after police received a call asking for a welfare check at the apartment. Officers entered the unit and found the bodies of the three men, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

Media reports stated that a sister of one of the victims called for the welfare check, but the LAPD declined to confirm who called. Reports also stated that neighbors in the building heard shots over the weekend before the bodies were located, but those reports also could not be confirmed.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner first identified two of the victims: Jeremy Badeker, 50, and Michael Bogacz, 33. Both died from multiple gunshot wounds. Badeker goes by the first name of Jeremiah on social media accounts.

On Aug. 6, the Department of Medical Examiner identified the third victim as Jack Cartagena, 44, who also died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The case is being investigated by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, Homicide Special Section. An LAPD spokesman confirmed on Aug. 5 that there are no updates, and homicide investigators could not be reached for comment.

Friends and family posted tributes on social media for Badeker, a tattoo artist also known by the name “Skooby” who lived in Hollywood near Santa Monica Boulevard and Western Avenue. No further information was available about Bogacz or Cartagena.
