Coway Entec will commercialize reverse osmosis (RO) concentrate treatment technology jointly developed with Yeungnam University.

​Coway Entec said August 14 that it signed an agreement with Yeungnam University to acquire the rights to the RO concentrate treatment technology.

​The agreement was arranged to commercialize the results of a joint research project, “Development of an Energy-Saving Process for Treating Concentrate in Water Reuse Plants,” that the two sides have conducted since 2024. The research was originally planned for three years, but the technology demonstration and performance verification were completed after two years.

​The technology secured by Coway Entec treats RO concentrate generated during wastewater and sewage reuse processes. The companies developed a treatment process using microorganisms, focusing on reducing the cost burden of conventional methods. A key feature is the ability to treat the concentrate within the water reuse facility itself.

​Coway Entec plans to secure the rights to the process technology and commercialize it. The company also plans to strengthen its technological competitiveness in water reuse and expand related businesses.

​“Concentrate treatment is one of the challenges that must be addressed in the water reuse process,” said Bang Yun-hyuk, CEO of Coway Entec. “Based on this technology, we will respond to the expansion of water reuse.”
