Qualitas Semiconductor Co., Ltd. reported revenue of 6.34 billion won and an operating loss of 870 million won in the second quarter of this year, the company said August 15. Revenue surged 589.1% from a year earlier, while the operating loss narrowed 86.3%.

The increase in revenue was driven by the adoption of the company's semiconductor interface intellectual property (IP) on Samsung Electronics' foundry lines. A company official said it had proactively applied a range of physical-layer (PHY) IP, including MIPI, PCIe and UCIe, to Samsung Electronics' advanced process technologies.

Qualitas Semiconductor's cumulative revenue for the first half was 11.5 billion won, while its operating loss was 5.6 billion won. Revenue rose 310.7% from 2.8 billion won a year earlier. Over the same period, the operating loss narrowed 50.9% from 11.4 billion won.

By product, PCIe IP generated the largest share of revenue at about 4.435 billion won, or 38.6%. MIPI IP accounted for about 4.147 billion won, or 36.1%, while UCIe IP generated about 1.623 billion won, or 14.1%. Other products accounted for 1.292 billion won, or 11.2%.

Qualitas Semiconductor expects to benefit in the second half from the government's K-On-Device AI Semiconductor Technology Development Project, led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR). The national project supports the use of domestic IP by Korean fabless companies developing artificial-intelligence (AI) semiconductors. The industry expects IP orders related to the government program to begin emerging from late in the third quarter to early in the fourth quarter. The 2026 project was formally announced by MOTIR in June.
