A repeat Varsity Maine All-State selection, Bhatia continued to impress as one of the state’s top talents. He was seeded fourth in the singles tournament and reached the quarterfinals before falling to Thornton Academy’s Andriy Vykhodtsev, but then won a rematch with Vykhodtsev in the regional semifinals of the Class A team tournament.

The owner of a solid all-around game, Churiwalla advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles tournament as the No. 8 seed before falling to eventual state champ Matt Morneault of Falmouth. Churiwalla won a tight 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (5) match against No. 9 Francesco Tumsich of MCI in the round of 16.

A top player in the state since his freshman year, the left-handed Cutone capped his career by reaching his first singles state final as the tournament’s No. 2 seed, earning a 6-4, 6-3 win over Adrian Mazurenko of Falmouth in the semifinals. Like his brother, three-time state champion George Cutone, he will attend the United States Naval Academy.

Masuda went 11-4 during the season as Thornton’s No. 2 player and drew the sixth seed in the singles tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals. He continued his success with a pair of wins in the Class A tournament while helping the Trojans reach the regional final.

At almost any other school, Mazurenko would have been the team’s No. 1. At Falmouth, he combined with Matt Morneault to form an unbeatable 1-2 punch as the Navigators won their fourth straight state title. He was 12-1 during the season and undefeated at No. 2, and as the third seed advanced to the singles semifinals.

Scordino took over as the No. 1 player for the Windjammers and helped lead them back to the state final. Showcasing technique described by one coach as “consistent” and “crisp,” he earned the No. 7 seed in the state singles tournament and reached the quarterfinals.

A hard hitter and strong server, Vykhodtsev led the Trojans to the Class A South final. He went 11-4 during the season and was seeded fifth in the singles tournament, where he topped Arya Bhatia in the quarterfinals, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4, before falling in the semis.
