Peeples Cancer Institute (PCI), at Hamilton Medical Center, recently hosted a special Memorial Butterfly Release Ceremony, bringing together families, friends, caregivers and members of the community to remember and honor loved ones who have passed away due to cancer. PCI plans to make this an annual event.

The gathering provided an opportunity for attendees to pause, reflect and celebrate the lives and memories of those who continue to hold a special place in their hearts. As butterflies were released, each became a symbol of remembrance, hope and the lasting impact loved ones have made on the lives of those they left behind.

“Coming together to remember the people we have lost is a deeply meaningful part of the healing journey,” said Alicia Sanborn, executive director of Peeples Cancer Institute. “The butterfly release was a reminder that while loved ones may no longer be physically
