Montclair resident Dr. Ram Gowda has been appointed to the Advisory Board of NJ Sharing Network, the nonprofit organization responsible for the recovery of donated organs and tissue in New Jersey.
Gowda is a neurologist and neurointensivist who serves as an associate professor of neurology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and co-director of the neuro-ICU at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. His work focuses on critically ill patients with conditions including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain infections and seizures.
He earned his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and is board certified in neurology and neurocritical care.
NJ Sharing Network said Gowda’s experience caring for patients with severe acute brain injuries will bring an important perspective to its Advisory Board, which provides expertise and counsel in support of the organization’s work.
“I am honored to join the NJ Sharing Network’s Advisory Board,” Gowda said. “I have been privileged to see firsthand how organ and tissue donation transforms people’s lives.”
Gowda said his work in brain injury and critical care often involves helping families navigate difficult decisions about their loved ones.
“When families choose organ and tissue donation, I feel a deep responsibility to honor their extraordinary generosity,” he said. “I hope to contribute my experience and expertise to the Advisory Board as we respond to medical and scientific advances in patient care and organ transplantation.”
NJ Sharing Network, based in New Providence, partners with 56 hospitals and serves more than 3,000 New Jersey residents awaiting organ transplants. The organization said New Jersey donors made possible a record 2,026 organ, cornea and tissue donations in 2025.
