What might a freely inhabited Korean DMZ sound like?
Equipment: Zoom H5 Studio.
Place: DMZ Forest, a civilian-owned, curated forest located within the Civilian Control Zone of the Korean Demilitarized Zone region. (https://www.dmzforest.com/)
Situation: First inaugural "DMZ Peace Piece Festival" on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The first festival of any kind to take place in the Civilian Control Zone.
Technique: Placed on top of a boulder in the alongside the forest path. The recorder was well-situated to capture sounds arising from the festival as well as of the surrounding nature.
