Nike knows a thing about light, fast gear. But who said anything about shoes?

Welcome to Power Moves: Diving deep into the product and brand moves that can change where a category is headed. Discover more here.

The brand’s latest release is an ultratechnical mountain jacket called the ACG Lava Flow Ultralight, designed to dislodge Patagonia, Arc’teryx and Mountain Hardwear in the alpine pecking order.

The jacket weighs a staggeringly light 8.75 ounces in a men’s medium, despite boasting 1000-fill ExpeDry goose down for an elite warmth-to-weight ratio on par with the legendary Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Hoody.

This isn’t the first jacket from Nike ACG to feature ExpeDry, also present in Lava Loft Down Jacket.

The technology uses gold-flecked goose down to trap warm air close to the body.

According to the manufacturer, Allied Feather + Down in California, ExpeDry dries up to 50 percent faster than untreated down, while also reducing the environmental impact in manufacturing by double-digit percentages.

Also present in the new jacket are a water-repellent ripstop shell, two-way zipper for heat management and zippered pockets, one of which doubles as a stuff sack for packability.

The ACG Lava Flow Ultralight is just one of many 2026 releases from Nike that attempt to reassert its outdoor-focused sub-brand, All Conditions Gear, as a force within hiking and trail running.

Earlier this year, the label released the highly innovative Radical Airflow running top, which funnels air onto the skin like a mobile AC unit. It also previewed several new shoes, including the Kigerfly and Picklejus, both set to release in 2027.

Until then, fans of the brand have no shortage of compelling new offerings to consider. The ACG Lava Flow Ultralight arrives near the very top of the list.

Available now on Nike’s official website, the ACG Lava Flow Ultralight costs $400, pitting it against the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Hoody ($399) and Patagonia Down Sweater Hoody ($345).

It comes in three launch colorways, black, “Safety Orange,” and “Old Royal” blue.
