Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time tenured position with a 9- or 11-month faculty appointment. Applicants will be considered for the title of Professor depending on qualifications. The position will include an administrative appointment as Associate Dean for Research. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2027.
The Associate Dean for Research is expected to demonstrate outstanding leadership and communication skills, a proven research background, and the ability to evaluate and enhance research programs in collaboration with faculty, department heads, students, and residents. This role ensures the physical and fiscal resources necessary to support nationally recognized research initiatives. The departmental home for the successful candidate will be determined based on the applicant's education and experience.
The faculty appointment includes responsibilities in research, service, and teaching at predoctoral and graduate levels, as well as supporting advanced education dental specialty programs, with a majority allocation for administrative duties. Administrative responsibilities include advising the Dean and College leadership on research priorities, investments, infrastructure needs, policies, performance metrics, and opportunities. The position also provides guidance at the department, College, and University levels, participating in executive-level decision-making to promote and advance the mission of the College in alignment with Texas A&M University. The Associate Dean for Research works closely with executive leadership and reports directly to the Dean.
Texas A&M University College of Dentistry stands out nationally among academic dental institutions for its research in dental, oral, craniofacial and skeletal fields. Currently, more than ten faculty members in the college are principal investigators for research grants from federal agencies. These grants include ten R01/R01-equivalent grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), two NIH K99/R00 grants and two grants from the Department of Defense. The primary research areas funded by these projects encompass mineralized tissue biology, neuroscience and pain, bioengineering and tissue regeneration, and temporomandibular disorders.
