Another hot day, but it won’t be long until lower humidity moves in.
A heat advisory was once again in effect for the entire Chicago area Friday, with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and heat index values as high as 110 degrees in some parts, especially in areas to the south and west.
The heat advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m., the National Weather Service said, with the potential for some thunderstorm activity around the lakefront starting around 9 p.m.
There’s relief for the rest of Labor Day weekend, NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack said.
Saturday
Saturday will stay warm and humid for a good part of the day, Sack said, though conditions will begin to improve closer to the lake as the day goes on.
“As a lake breeze starts to develop in the afternoon, conditions will slowly but surely change,” Sack said.
Heat index values will start to improve, Sack said, making for a more pleasant Saturday night.
Sunday and Monday
“Your Sunday looks great,” Sack said, though wavy conditions along Lake Michigan could create a beach hazard.
“Sunshine, less humidity and highs around the 80 degree mark,” Sack said.
A “carbon copy” of Sunday is expected Monday, with partly cloudy skies and low humidity.
