Month-to-month car leasing company Flexcar just opened its first Texas location in Dallas, part of a national expansion aimed at helping drivers steer away from traditional car ownership and long-term leasing.

The new 17,560-square-foot hub, at 39550 LBJ Freeway, can accommodate up to 250 vehicles. Flexcar said drivers will be able to choose from a fleet of more than 200 makes and models, including the Nissan Rogue, Toyota Grand Highlander, Chevrolet Tahoe and Volvo V60.

“Expanding into Texas is a major milestone for Flexcar as we continue to grow our national footprint,” Ryan Quinlan, president and chief operating officer of Boston-based Flexcar, said in a statement. “Texas drivers have a strong connection to their vehicles, and we’re excited to offer a more flexible alternative to traditional car ownership.”

Flexcar estimates its U.S. customers recently surpassed 350 million miles driven. Aside from Dallas, the company operates hubs in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Nashville and Charlotte, North Carolina. Planned hubs include Houston, Denver, Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

“Flexcar is here to disrupt a $110 billion industry by providing customers a better alternative to car ownership,” the company said on its LinkedIn page.

How it works

Unlike typical car leases, the vehicle subscription company lets customers cancel their service or switch vehicles at any time. Flexcar offers tiered plans based on monthly mileage. Drivers can purchase insurance at an additional cost.

The company said it also offers free maintenance and roadside assistance, along with a gas discount program.

Car Tips Daily said a Flexcar subscription requires a $249 annual fee, as well as various fees. The type of car, customer’s credit and geographic location affect the monthly rate. Monthly rates start at $464 for 850 miles and the “essential” insurance plan, Flexcar said.

On its website, Flexcar shows cost comparisons for leasing and buying. For example, it estimates the cost for a 2025 Toyota Prius LE at $569 for Flexcar month-to-month leasing, $646 for traditional leasing and $743 for purchasing.
