Runway.com has been acquired in a deal overseen by Andrew Miller of ATM Holdings. The domain name recently transferred from Tucows to Namecheap under Whois privacy. Runway.com had been listed for sale on the ATM Holdings website, and it was recently moved to the section on the homepage showcasing completed deals.

I reached out to Andrew to see if he could share any details about the transaction. “I can confirm that we (Andrew Miller and ATM Holdings) oversaw an amazing win-win transaction for the buyer and seller,” Andrew told me via email. He was unable to disclose the acquisition price.

The buyer of Runway.com is Runway AI, and the company already has its website running on the domain name.  Runway is also still operating its website on RunwayML.com in parallel. Not surprisingly, the company also owns Runway.ai, which it forwards to its website.

In February of this year, TechCrunch published an article about Runway, reporting the company had raised a $315 million round of funding that valued the company at $5.3 Billion. Securing Runway.com should position well as it continues to grow.

Ordinarily, I would mention that Runway has been added to the list of companies that upgraded its domain name, but it’s already listed from when the seller acquired it as an upgrade from Runway.xyz. I think this helps illustrate the value of an exceptional one word .com domain name, which can be acquired and branded by totally different companies. I am unsure what happened to the seller’s brand, now formerly known as Runway.

I would be surprised if Runway doesn’t fully move to Runway.com in the near term. It appears that the company has already dropped the AI from its primary branding, as the only place I see Runway AI is in the footer. Having Runway.com will allow Runway to fully embrace its Runway branding without losing traffic or emails.
