A LinkedIn post about a domain name acquisition came across my feed this afternoon that caught my attention. John Hu, Founder and CEO of Stan, announced that his company spent $750,000 to acquire the Stan.com domain name. Stan is a platform that helps content creators monetize their audience and grow their business.

Using the DomainTools Whois History tool, I can see the domain name appears to have changed hands about a week ago, when it transferred from Tucows to GoDaddy under Whois privacy. Prior to that, the domain name was owned by the company formerly known as Anything.com.

As John mentioned in his LinkedIn post, the company started out on StanWith.me and later migrated to Stan.Store. Following some incredible growth, as indicated in this article written about on HubSpot for Startups, the company was able to afford and justify the $750,000 acquisition of its brand matching .com domain name.

Following this acquisition, Stan has been added to the list of companies that upgraded its domain name. Well done.
