As manufacturers push for lighter designs, faster cycle times and more reliable joints, new fastening technologies are helping simplify assembly while improving performance. From aerospace fasteners to automated fastening systems and lightweight inserts, these products are enabling greater flexibility, improved quality and more efficient production.
Fastening System Supports Lightweight Aerospace AssemblyBöllhoff and DELO have combined fastening and adhesive technologies to create a lightweight joining system for aerospace interiors. The system pairs Böllhoff’s ONSERT fastening element with DELO’s light-curing adhesive to enable bonding without drilling or weakening materials, making it suitable for applications such as cable holders on lightweight components.
The adhesive cures within seconds and delivers high strength while maintaining flexibility, supporting automated, high-volume production. The process also meets aerospace fire, smoke and environmental requirements and operates across a wide temperature range.

SPIROL has introduced aluminum threaded inserts designed for heat or ultrasonic installation into plastic components. The Series INS19, INS20, INS29 and INS30 expand SPIROL’s threaded insert offering and complement the existing brass product line. The additions complete the company’s aluminum insert portfolio, covering molded-in, press-in and heat or ultrasonic installation methods. Heat and ultrasonic installation methods allow surrounding material to flow into undercuts and knurls, improving torque resistance and pull-out strength compared to press-in inserts.
The aluminum design reduces weight while maintaining strength and supporting environmental requirements. The inserts are intended to simplify assembly, improve joint integrity and support lightweight product designs.
