MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Belarusian cyclist Angelina Shastak won gold at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian topped her age group in the 1,000m time trial. In qualifying, Angelina Shastak set a new world record, covering the kilometer in 1:06.893. In the final, she clocked 1:07.239 to take first place, finishing ahead of riders from Italy and Russia. A total of 27 cyclists competed in this event.

Earlier at the UCI Junior Track World Championships, Angelina Shastak reached the quarterfinals of the sprint. Belarusian Vasilina Tserakhava finished fifth in the elimination race and 10th in the omnium, while Dzianis Baranouski placed fourth in the points race and Ilya Yankouski finished 13th in the elimination race. The championships in Belgium will conclude on 23 August.
