MINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have clinched their second medal at the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon World Championships in Guiyang, China, BelTA has learned.

The mixed relay silver went to Yauheni Arol and Viyaleta Hureyeva. The event followed a tetrathlon format (swimming, fencing, laser run) after the obstacle discipline was called off due to poor weather. The Belarusian duo entered the final discipline in fifth place but made a stellar late comeback to finish second, beating the Hungarian pair of Zsombor Tarkanyi and Blanka Guzi by a mere two seconds. Seo Changwan and Seong Seungmin of the Republic of Korea claimed gold with a comfortable 18-second margin.

Previously, the Belarusian duo of Mariya Gnedtchik and Anastasiya Arol captured gold in the women’s relay, while Uladzislau Melkaziorau and Uladzislau Nestserau finished fifth in the men’s event. Individual qualification starts on 26-27 August, with the semifinals taking place on 28-29 August. The individual world titles will be decided in Guiyang this Sunday, 30 August.
