The inaugural Collegedale TimberFest, a three-day festival featuring live chainsaw carving, an artisan market, food trucks, family activities and a Quick Carve Competition, will run this Friday through Sunday at The Commons, 4750 Swinyar Dr. in Ooltewah.

Collegedale TimberFest is the area's first chainsaw carving and community arts festival, featuring live carving demonstrations, a Quick Carve Competition, silent auction, artisan vendor market, food trucks and a Kids Corner.

Event schedule:
Friday - Public carving preview, 4–7 p.m.
Saturday - Live carving, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; Quick Carve Competition, 1–2 p.m.; silent auction begins 2 p.m.; vendor market & food trucks, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
Sunday - Live carving, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.; Judging & Awards Ceremony, 1–2 p.m.; silent auction concludes at noon; sculpture sale and auction to follow.

"TimberFest is a new community tradition designed to showcase the art of chainsaw carving while supporting local artists, craftsmen and businesses," officials said.

Organizers hope the inaugural event becomes a signature annual draw for the greater Collegedale and Ooltewah area."
