Chattanooga City Council Members Dennis Clark, Ron Elliott, and Cody Harvey will host a public town hall meeting on Tuesday, June 3, to discuss the role of historic preservation in Chattanooga’s future growth and development.

It will be at City Council Chambers from 6-7:30 p.m.

The event will engage residents in a community conversation about how historic preservation can serve as a tool to protect significant historic places while supporting economic development, tourism, neighborhood identity, and long-term sustainability.

The evening will include a presentation on the development of a new preservation plan for Hamilton County. Featured speakers will include the plan’s consulting team, Phil Walker, Principal of Walker Collaborative, and Phil Thomason, principal of Thomason and Associates, both nationally recognized leaders in the preservation field.

Additional speakers will include Linda Moss Mines, Hamilton County historian, Irvin Overton, retired healthcare executive and historian, and Todd Morgan, executive director of Preserve Chattanooga. Ray Bassett of WUTC will moderate the discussion, which will include an opportunity for public questions and comments.

The Hamilton County preservation plan is being funded through support from Lyndhurst Foundation and the Tennessee Historical Commission in partnership with Preserve Chattanooga.
