An image comparison has fans speculating that it may not be Jason, but a supposed ally who is playing a double game in GTA 6.Until now, Jason has been considered the most likely traitor in GTA 6. However, a new fan theory turns that suspicion on its head: A striking image comparison suggests that a supposed ally could be playing a double game.
A popular fan theory suggests that Jason is actually an undercover cop in Grand Theft Auto VI (available for pre-order on Amazon) and is merely using Lucia. The speculation is primarily based on three scenes from the second trailer: A prison guard asks Jason whether he has seen him before, a criminal asks whether Jason is a federal agent, and a police officer wearing a backwards cap who bears a resemblance to Jason can be seen during a police raid. None of this has been confirmed, however. A new theory now suggests that Jason is not the traitor at all, but rather bank robber Raul Bautista, who recruits Jason and Lucia for his plans.
The theory is based on a comparison between Bautista and a previously unidentified police officer who appears at the 1:47 mark in the second GTA 6 trailer. A certain resemblance between the two men is difficult to deny. Reddit user u/Constant-Issure3362 therefore suggests that the two could be related. This, in turn, has led to the theory that Raul deliberately recruits Jason and Lucia for his robberies, only to later lure them into a trap together with his supposed relative.
Some also consider it possible that Raul himself is the police officer in question and is merely using that identity as a cover for his criminal activities. Others speculate that Bautista and the officer shown in the trailer may indeed be related but are not working together. This could result in a subplot in which a police officer hunts down his own brother.
Not everyone sees the resemblanceWhile some users find the two men's facial features similar and consider the theory plausible, others see no resemblance at all and regard the speculation as generally far-fetched. After all, it is currently based solely on a visual comparison. There is no concrete evidence that Raul and the police officer are related or even the same person. Nor does any of the material released so far suggest that they are working together or planning to betray Jason and Lucia. The resemblance could therefore just as easily be a coincidence. Hopefully, the Extended Look on August 27, which according to a recent leak could consist of three episodes, will reveal more about Raul and the role of the still-unidentified police officer.
As a child in the 90s, my Gameboy was my steady companion. After school, the PlayStation was fired up. When I finally got my first PC, I was completely hooked. My passion for gaming has never waned since. For me, writing for Notebookcheck means reporting on topics that are really close to my heart - in addition to gaming, I also like to write about e-mobility, photovoltaics and innovative gadgets. When I'm not sitting at my computer, I'm probably on water rescue duty on the Baltic coast or trying to counteract the downsides of my geek life - namely sitting for long periods - at the local swimming pool.
