When GTA 6 pre-orders began in late June, PlayStation launched a “Plays Best on PS5” marketing campaign. Since then, promotions for the Rockstar title on its social media have been sparse. However, a new “It Happens on PS5” YouTube video contains several references. While mostly recycling old trailers, it also includes fresh audio.

The PlayStation Blog post introduces the video by discussing exclusive PS5 games like Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey. Reminding readers of the GTA 6 release date, it says the third-party title will be one of the “most-exciting adventures” coming to the console.

The game first surfaces in a sequence involving jet skis racing near a Vice City-inspired beach. In this instance, a non-animated production employs actors and actresses not seen in previous marketing. Still, 23 seconds in, a more recognizable Jason jumps into a getaway car driven by Lucia, a clip from trailer #2.

At 44 seconds, in more rehashed footage, Jason rides a motorcycle with a low-flying seaplane trailing behind. This time, the scene appears on a billboard resembling signage on a real building in Warsaw, Poland.

Finally, near the end of the “It Happens on PS5”  YouTube promo, Jason slams a car trunk with Lucia by his side. It again uses a clip from the second Rockstar trailer, but also adds a new sound effect.

Fans anxious for new gameplay may have to wait until the Netflix Extended Look on August 27th. Nevertheless, PlayStation could be ready to continue hyping up the GTA 6 PS5 release.

Sony’s “Plays Best on PS5” slogan disappeared on several channels not long after the start of pre-orders. Some followers speculated that the announced move away from physical games in 2028 was a factor. Disc defenders have bombarded the company’s social media with negative comments.

It’s more likely that the pause was scheduled in advance. Despite record-setting sales, analysts expect a spike in GTA 6 PS5 reservations during the final week before its release date. With a PS5 or PS5 Pro console bundle still rumored, the anticipated summer marketing drive may be about to kick into high gear.
