Minisforum introduced the N5 Max at Computex 2026, and at the initial unveiling, this AMD Strix Halo NAS was available with 64GB of RAM. While this memory configuration is adequate for most AI-related tasks, it leaves little headroom for those who want to run large parameter models locally.
The company has now introduced another configuration for the NAS, and this one doubles the memory. Specifically, it features 128GB of RAM, and per the brand, this amount of memory offers the right amount of headroom to locally run 120B-class models.
As for the other specs, they are the same as the configuration with 64GB of RAM. That includes five HDD bays and five M.2 slots. Among them, the HDD bays can each hold a 32TB drive, while up to an 8TB SSD can be installed on each of the NVMe slots (4TB Lexar NM790 curr. $499.99 on Amazon). So, the rated total storage capacity stands at 200TB. There's a built-in 250W power supply, and the dual-fan cooling setup is said to keep the system cool even under heavy loads.
Another notable aspect of this 200TB NAS is the rich selection of ports. To be precise, the Minisforum N5 Max has the following port configuration:
Thanks to such a port selection, this NAS can even be used as a regular mini PC if needed. Other highlights include MinisCloud OS with multiple NAS-focused features, support for multiple RAID modes, a slide-out motherboard design, and a sleek chassis.
On the official website, the Minisforum N5 Max with 128GB of RAM costs $3,599, and for comparison, the 64GB configuration goes for $2,599. Check out the complete spec sheet attached below to learn more about this AMD NAS.
