GPD's Win Max 3 gaming handheld was shown off in June 2026 running AMD's Strix Halo Ryzen AI Max+ 395, a 165 Hz AMOLED display, and a modular battery. At launch, there will be three variants of the GPD Win Max 3, with the entry-level model with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 388 CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD launching at $1,750, while stepping up to 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage on the same APU will bring the price up to $2,246. These prices are obviously high, but they're not necessarily out of line compared to offerings from the likes of the Ayaneo Next 2, which retails for $1,999 with the less powerful Ryzen AI Max 385, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. Nevertheless, GPD has seemingly foreseen backlash over the pricing and pre-emptively explained its pricing situation.
As you might imagine, given recent trends, GPD attributes the high price to the ongoing memory crisis, and the handheld maker takes it a step further, promising that it is "constantly working to ensure that the UMPC market we love will not be eroded by high prices and product homogenization."
The GPD Win Max 3 is expected to launch on September 2 on Indiegogo. Aside from the Strix Halo APU and Radeon 8060S iGPU, headline features of the device include a 9.06-inch, 165 Hz, 2400 × 1504 p, native landscape display with 1050 nits peak brightness and 105% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and delta-E values below one.
The full explanation posted to the GPD account on X follows.
The Greatest Effort and Sincerity from GPDEveryone knows that we are currently facing a memory crisis. But even during this challenging period, GPD is still doing everything we can to bring new life to our niche market through continuous innovation.
At the same time, we are constantly working to ensure that the UMPC market we love will not be eroded by high prices and product homogenization.
We don't have that bargaining power as major brands, so there are limits to what we can achieve. But within those limits, we will put in unlimited passion and effort to deliver the best possible results.
I believe this price represents the greatest sincerity we can offer. You won't find a Strix Halo system at this price anywhere else.
So the $1750 is the best price which we can provide.
