Amad Diallo was shown a second yellow for his wild celebration after producing the unlikely winner for Manchester United with his 121st minute strike in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The 21-year-old Ivorian came on as a substitute in the 85th minute for Raphael Varane and produced the match winner after Garnacho broke free after winning a misplaced pass from Harvey Elliott.

The United player admitted that he forgot about his first yellow having been booked just six minutes earlier for tripping Virgil Van Dijk.

Despite seeing red for whipping off his shirt in celebration, Diallo won't miss United's FA Cup semi-final clash between Coventry City, thanks to recent rules introduced into the English game although Diallo will have to serve a one-match ban.

The recent rules brought into the English game state that certain suspensions have to be served in the competition they are accrued in. However this rule doesn't apply for red cards.

Under the recent rules, receiving multiple yellow cards in the FA Cup earns a competition ban, whilst a red card is still just a regular match ban.

For example, Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez had to sit out on his teams quarter-final clash win over Leicester on Sunday after picking up two yellow cards in the competition previously.

As this rule doesn't apply to red card recipients, Amad will serve his one match ban in United's next domestic match, regardless of what competition the game is in.

This means, the 21-year-old will miss United's next Premier game against Brentford on March 31.

Meaning he will be available for selection straight after that for United's Premier League fixtures between Chelsea, Liverpool and Bournemouth before their trip to Wembley for a place in the 2024 FA Cup final.

Despite seeing red, Diallo will not miss United's semi final clash against Coventry City, instead he will serve his one match ban against Brentford in the Premier League

Speaking on ITV after the game, Diallo said 'I forgot the first yellow. I'm very disappointed for that, a red card, but the most important for me is to win and against a big team like Liverpool is a big, big moment for me.'

'Everyone came to me and said congratulations. I want to thank everyone, the fans were superb all game.'

United will face championship side Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final on April 20 in Wembley.
