Tim Cook took to X tonight to announce that Apple will donate to relief efforts supporting those affected by the wildfires affecting southern Europe. Here are the details.

Over the past few weeks, wildfires have raged across Portugal, Spain, and France, displacing more than 300,000 people, according to the BBC.

With temperatures expected to remain high, challenging conditions are likely to persist for firefighters working to contain the blazes.

When disasters such as this one strike, Apple typically announces donations to support relief and recovery efforts. That is precisely what Tim Cook did tonight, in a post on X:

Cook’s announcement comes seven months after Apple pledged an undisclosed amount to relief and rebuilding efforts following devastating storms across Asia, just days after pledging support after a Hong Kong housing complex fire.

In addition to stepping up during natural disasters and other emergencies, Apple also has an internal donation program called Employee Giving, which has raised more than $880 million to date through a donation-matching policy.
