OK, maybe “forever” is a bit of an exaggeration, given how much Bold & Beautiful likes to lather, rinse, repeat its stories. But two marriages could very well be blown sky-high for a time by one confession in Thursday’s episode.

You’ll recall that Wednesday (read the recap), Finn pleaded with Steffy to forgive him for having had such a blind spot where murderous biomom Sheila was concerned. He was seeing clearly now, he swore, and wanted to step up and be the kind of man that befitted “the perfect wife.”

Steffy was quick to correct Finn. “Oh, I’m not perfect,” she said, flashing back to her booze-fueled night in the Forrester Creations CEO’s office. But Finn went on and on about how pure she was, how devoted and loyal.

Finally, Steffy could take it no more. Nerves frayed, emotions running high, she admitted that she had something to tell Finn — something that he needed to know. Come Thursday, we’ll find out whether she goes through with her confession and divulges that she and Carter had couch sex.

For the sake of a thrilling Thursday episode, we’d love to think that Steffy will come clean. But more likely, the show is playing the long game. It’s going to wait until Carter and Daphne have put their brief separation behind them and are well into the process of starting a family together. That’s when the truth about Steffy and Carter’s “terrible mistake” will come out.

In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if the show ripped a page from its own history book and replayed the scene in which Amber learned the identity of her baby’s father. Back then, she was sleeping with Forrester photographer Oliver, had also hooked up with Carter’s brother Marcus and was trying to trick Liam into thinking he should be passing out cigars. Only just as she gave birth to a Black daughter did the truth come out that Marcus was the father.
