ABA Extends President/CEO Ferguson

The American Bus Association (ABA) board extended the contract of President/CEO Fred Ferguson for four years, the association announced.

Ferguson joined ABA as President/CEO in July 2024, bringing deep experience in public policy, strategic communications, industry relations, and association leadership. At the time of his appointment, ABA Board Chair Terry Fischer emphasized the importance of ensuring members’ voices were heard at every level of government and cited Ferguson’s advocacy and communications background as central to leading the association into a new era.

Since then, ABA has moved quickly to sharpen its strategy, expand its advocacy profile, strengthen member engagement, and position the association for long-term growth, said officials.

Under Ferguson’s leadership, ABA launched its first rolling three-year strategic plan in more than six years, built around core pillars: Advocacy, Operations & Safety, Workforce & Culture, and Marketplace. The plan focuses on expanding Marketplace, re-centering its focus on bus operators, advancing advocacy gains, leading professional development, and amplifying ABA’s reputation.

“I’m grateful for the trust and confidence of the ABA board of directors, and especially thankful to Board Chair Terry Fischer for his mentorship, guidance, and friendship,” said Ferguson. “We’ve built real momentum, but there is much more ahead as we work to deliver on our strategic plan, expand ABA’s capabilities, and create greater value for our members. I’m excited for what’s next and will continue to lead with the same energy and urgency I brought on day one.”

WSP Names New National Planning and Project Delivery Strategic Advisor

Gloria M. Shepherd joined WSP in the U.S. as national planning and project delivery strategic advisor as part of WSP’s Advisory and Planning team. She is based in Washington, D.C.

In her new role, Shepherd provides strategic counsel on complex transportation and infrastructure initiatives, strengthens relationships with public-sector clients and industry partners, and supports planning and project delivery efforts that advance mobility, sustainability, resilience, and community outcomes across the U.S.

Shepherd joins WSP after more than three decades of leadership in transportation planning, program management, and public policy. Most recently, she served as executive director of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), helping oversee the administration of more than $350 billion in federal highway programs and working closely with state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, tribal governments, local agencies, and national transportation partners.

Before serving as executive director, Shepherd was FHWA’s associate administrator for planning, environment and realty for more than 15 years, leading national transportation planning, environmental stewardship and project delivery programs. During her tenure, she advanced initiatives focused on long-term infrastructure performance, community connectivity, complete streets, performance-based planning and accelerated project delivery.

STV announced the promotion of Adrian Pearmine, PE, to vice president, national director of mobility technologies, and Matthew Dimmick to vice president, senior security development director.
