Foreigners who commit anti-Semitic or other hate crimes could lose their visas.

Ministers are looking at stepping up deportations of hatemongers after a surge in incidents amid the Gaza conflict.

Home Office officials are able to weigh up evidence against individuals and boot them out even if they have not been convicted but their presence in this country is still judged to be 'not conducive to the public good'.

Former home secretary Sajid Javid urged Rishi Sunak to 'urgently' look into the issue at Prime Minister's Questions yesterday.

The PM's spokesman later confirmed that ministers were 'looking carefully' at using existing powers to deport more foreigners suspected of hate crimes.

Several Jewish schools in London closed last week amid fears for their pupils' safety.

And two women were pictured with pictures of Hamas militants taped to the backs of their jackets during pro-Palestine protests at the weekend.

Activists also chanted 'From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free'.

The slogan can be seen as calling for the destruction of Israel, whose territory lies between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean.

Labour's Sir Keir Starmer said there had been a 'disgusting rise' in anti-Semitism since the Hamas outrage along with an 'appalling surge' in Islamophobia with mosques 'forced to ramp up security'.
