After recent success in the Complete University Guide 2010, OUCL came out top in the second subject league table of the year, published by The Guardian newspaper. These tables are compiled for the benefit of first-time undergraduate applicants and therefore concentrate on teaching rather than research quality. Courses are rated against the following criteria: Teaching quality (as rated by final-year students in the national student survey (NSS) - percentage of students satisfied); Feedback (assessment, as rated by final-year students in the NSS - percentage of students satisfied); Spending per student (given as a banded score out of 10); Staff-student ratio (number of students per member of teaching staff); Job prospects (proportion of graduates who find graduate-level employment, or study full-time, within six months of graduation); Value added (comparing students' individual degree results with their entry qualifications, given as a banded score out of 10); Entry qualifications (UCAS tariff score). The computer science table lists 100 departments throughout the UK. The University also came out top overall, leaving Cambridge to trail second.
