The University of Oxford is placed second in the latest UK university ranking for Computer Science and Information Systems published by The Guardian newspaper this week.

The Guardian has rated 115 institutions using its ‘rating of excellence’. This is based on a culmination of course satisfaction of final-year students, the teaching quality score, and the feedback score, all based on the National Student Survey. It also includes the staff to student ratio, spend per head, average entry tariff and the value-added score, which compares student’s degree results with entry qualifications, and the percentage of graduates who find graduate level jobs within six months.

The University’s Department of Computer Science can be found up one place from last year’s position (from 3rd to 2nd) narrowly behind St Andrews, and before the University of Cambridge.
