Apple made various series completely free to watch during COVID, and it has occasionally added one-off films like "Silver Linings Playbook." Those were all for a limited time, as was 2024's mammoth addition of 51 movies, and now Apple TV is back expanding its catalog in the same way.
As before, Apple is not actually saying whether the selection is only available for a limited time. It also isn't promoting it outside of Apple TV itself, but subscribers can find a new section called "Great Movies Available Now on Apple TV."

This may not be available in every country, and there definitely is a different selection in each territory. Subscribers in the US get these 19 movies:
In comparison, Apple TV subscribers in the UK get just six, and most of them are different:
Apple TV costs $12.99 per month or $99 per year, in the US. It's also available as part of the Apple One subscription bundle of services, which starts at $19.95 per month.
Wherever the movie selection is available, it is an attractive extra for subscribers. It's not worth subscribing just for these films, especially in the UK with it comparatively few choices.
But Apple TV has consistently been criticized for having only a very small catalog compared to any other streamer. Its catalog tends to have critically acclaimed films and especially series, but it is true that the total is a small fraction compared to the libraries of Netflix or Amazon Prime.
There are occasional rumors that Apple has looked at acquiring larger libraries, such as Warner Bros. But Apple TV head Eddy Cue repeatedly says that's not the plan, and instead the firm aims only to keep making strong shows.
