Apple TV added something its growing library of original shows and movies has been missing: a bunch of big-name Hollywood hits. The streaming service now offers a collection of popular movies that subscribers can watch at no additional cost.

Apple Originals are great, but sometimes you’re in the mood for an old-school classic. Check out the ones now available through Apple TV.

Classic movies for Apple TV subscribers

Apple TV spent years building a catalog of top-quality original programming on its streaming service. But a library made up primarily of Apple originals can feel a little thin compared with rivals that have decades of movies available.

Adding familiar Hollywood movies gives subscribers another reason to open the Apple TV app. It also means someone looking for something to watch doesn’t have to choose between the latest Apple original and renting a movie separately.

From E.T. to Titanic and more

There are some instantly recognizable titles in the new collection. U.S. subscribers can watch movies including E.T., Titanic, The Sixth Sense, A Beautiful Mind, The Martian, Arrival, Gone Girl and The Bourne Identity.

The lineup also includes The Aviator, I, Robot, Looper, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, The Proposal, The Rookie, Zodiac, Zoolander, 21 Jump Street, Charlie’s Angels and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

To start watching, open the Apple TV app, hit the Home button in the left column than look for what’s listed under Great Movies Available Now on Apple.  (If you’re asked to pay to watch a film, you’re in the wrong section.)

Watch now — don’t procrastinate

Before you get too excited about the additional offerings, note that Apple hasn’t said whether these movies are being added permanently. And there’s reason to believe they’ll be gone soon.

Apple pulled a similar trick before. In 2024, it added more than 50 licensed movies to Apple TV, followed by another batch of nearly 30 movies the following month. But those collections were only available for a few weeks, and Apple didn’t keep up the practice.

That makes the current collection worth checking out sooner rather than later. There’s no indication that Apple plans to keep these movies around indefinitely.

The movies are currently showing up for subscribers in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., although other countries get a smaller selection.

In the U.S., Apple TV costs $12.99 per month, following a free seven-day trial for new subscribers. For people who use several Apple services, Apple TV is also included with Apple One.
