Yarnspirations added a brand new product in the cotton blend family called Caron All In One Cotton Granny yarn. This little beast has more to it than you realize at first and addresses an issue in clothing design to help clothes fit and feel better.

One ball can seriously do 39 squares. Measuring 2.5" x 2.5". You can do 13 squares x 3 squares, covering just over 1.6 square feet of surface area. If you wanted a 60" x 60" blanket, you would need 576 squares using 15 balls of yarn.

With the new solid colors, you can make the squares bigger, resulting in fewer of them. You get to control your stitching journey.

Enhancing Some Known Issues

With the All In One Concept, the squares have been made using #4 and #6 weight yarn in the Red Heart Super Saver and Bernat Blanket formats. With Red Heart being 100% acrylic and Bernat being polyester, it left space for opportunities.

• The yarn falls into the lightweight #3 category.
• It is a cotton blend of 51% acrylic and 49% cotton. This addresses the comfort and potential overheating associated with 100% acrylic or polyester in warmer weather.
• The blend makes the squares themselves softer and more pliable without losing strength.

You will see me adjusting in real time to find my gauge, but what you will notice is that I started the first square with a 3.5 mm / E/4 hook, but for the second square on camera, I had to switch to a 3 mm / US 11 hook.

The more comfortable I get, the more relaxed I become. Having done the pattern once, I know the steps and, instead of adjusting how I hold my hook or my yarn tension, I change the hook size to match me rather than fight it.

The Biggest Change

The sizing of the squares when following the gauge is only 2.5" x 2.5". This means that clothing sizing for wearables can be much more accurate. Unlike Red Heart All In One Granny, where the squares are 6" and thicker than this product, there is further opportunity for fancier and more refined clothing that not only looks great but is also more comfortable to wear.

With the cotton yarn, there is strength, as cotton is one of the strongest natural fibers on the market. It means it's durable and trustworthy.

Complimentary Solid Colours

At launch, there were 10 colorways. Yes, three of them are solid-color balls. Yarnspirations has identified that you will most likely want the complimentary solid colors in the same yarn to mix and match.

Maybe you want some of your squares to be solids instead of letting the yarn change on its own. You have more control over your colors and layout options instead of fiddling around to find what colors and/or brand would go best with the yarn.

Pattern to Use

The pattern is on the ball band, but future patterns will include it written out, with a crochet diagram available to you as well. If you find you are not loving this concept, the yarn is still good for self-striping concepts as well.
