Q. How long have you been involved with The Open Group?

My initial exposure to open standards was through Energistics around 2013/14 which is now an affiliate of The Open Group. In the last few years, I have been involved in the Open Footprint® Forum and now the Open Digital Transformation™ Forum. 

Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?

I’m a technology and business leader focused on building and scaling technology businesses in the Energy and Sustainability domain. For over a decade, I’ve helped corporate clients address business challenges using the right mix of data, technology, and human effort in areas such as Digital Transformation, Data Interoperability, and Value Realization. 

With Mesh403, we aim to take a step further by building federated digital ecosystems, applying Data Mesh principles and federated governance to enable organizations to discover, share, and consume data across organizational and technology boundaries.

Q. Why did your organization become a Member of The Open Group Open Digital Transformation™ Forum and what does/will your involvement look like?

We’ve joined The Open Group to contribute to the development of open, practical approaches for information interoperability and collaboration across organizational and technology boundaries. Our work focuses on helping organizations exchange data and collaborate across federated ecosystems while retaining their existing systems, governance models, and autonomy.

Our involvement will focus on sharing practical experience, contributing to relevant working groups and discussions, and helping translate emerging architectural concepts into practical reference models and implementation guidance. We are particularly interested in ecosystem interoperability, federated data exchange and the operational models needed for trusted collaboration between independent organizations.

Q. How has/will membership in The Open Group benefit you, your organization, and the industry at large?

This membership gives Mesh403 access to a broad community of industry practitioners and standards experts, helping us validate our ideas and learn from real-world challenges across industries. It also allows us to contribute practical experience in federated ecosystems, interoperability, and industry agnostic digital standards.

For the wider industry, we hope to help turn emerging ecosystem concepts into practical reference models and implementation guidance that organizations can adopt while preserving their existing investments and governance models.

Q. Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?         

The Open Group brings together organizations facing common technology, architecture, and interoperability challenges, providing a platform to learn from peers and contribute to open standards and industry practices. Joining enables organizations to turn their practical experience into shared solutions while helping shape approaches that can benefit the wider industry.
