Attorneys selected a jury Thursday for the murder trial of the man accused of orchestrating the killing of Tupac Shakur.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis, 63, is on trial in connection with the death of Shakur, who was shot near the Strip in September 1996.

The panel was finalized after three days of questioning from prosecutors and defense attorney Michael Sanft to remove potential jurors.

Opening statements in the trial are scheduled for Monday.

District Judge Carli Kierny told the jury not to do research or visit locations involved in the case. She also said that a marshal would meet them at a parking garage near the courthouse and escort them into the building.

The 12 jurors and four alternates, a mix of women and men, include at least one Black person, at least one true crime fan and multiple jurors who had at least some familiarity with Shakur.

Prosecutors have said Davis’ public statements drove a renewed effort to investigate the case. In a memoir that he has since disputed writing, Davis described “tossing” a gun into the back seat of the Cadillac in which he was riding, allowing another man to commit the shooting.

Authorities have alleged Davis was the “shot-caller” who conceived the plan to exact revenge on the rapper and Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight in retaliation for an attack by Shakur and his entourage against Davis’ nephew, Orlando Anderson, earlier that night at the MGM Grand.
