MetroTown 2026: Creating Miami’s next generation of bridge buildersMetroTown brings together young people from across South Florida who might never otherwise meet.

Miami is home to an extraordinary mix of cultures, traditions, faiths, and life experiences.

MetroTown brings together young people from across South Florida who might never otherwise meet, creating opportunities to learn from one another, build lasting friendships, and discover that our differences are often the beginning of our greatest connections.

Originally inspired by the National Conference of Christians and Jews’ historic AnyTown program, MetroTown has been reimagined by Mosaic Miami to reflect the unique character of South Florida.

Through dialogue, experiential learning, and leadership development, delegates build trust, strengthen communication skills, challenge assumptions, and discover what it means to lead with empathy, courage, and respect.

Hosted on the campus of Barry University, an institution whose commitment to service, leadership and community closely aligns with Mosaic Miami’s, MetroTown gives many delegates their first opportunity to experience life on a college campus.

Throughout the week, phones are set aside during programming, creating space to be fully present with one another. Conversations become deeper, friendships form more quickly, and moments that might otherwise be missed become the experiences delegates carry home.

This year also marked a meaningful milestone. For the first time, the majority of advisors and peer counselors were MetroTown alumni. Once delegates themselves, they returned to mentor a new generation of young leaders, demonstrating that MetroTown’s impact continues long after camp ends.

Imagine building a city where opportunity isn’t shared equally. MetroTown’s signature Community Build simulation challenged delegates to work together, solve problems, and experience how systems shape opportunity. The activity sparked thoughtful conversations about fairness, civic responsibility, and the importance of understanding perspectives different from our own.

Some of the week’s most powerful lessons came from listening. Delegates learned from remarkable educators and community partners whose experiences challenged them to see the world through new perspectives. Highlights included a visit to the Mobile Museum of Tolerance; a conversation with Dr. Marvin Dunn, recipient of Mosaic Miami’s 2025 Silver Medallion Humanitarian Award; workshops with the YES Institute focused on communication and leadership, and an eye-opening accessibility experience that invited delegates to navigate the world from the perspective of a person who is blind. Each experience encouraged delegates to listen with curiosity, think critically, and lead with empathy.

One conversation stayed with delegates long after camp ended. Kelvin Pierce, author of Sins of My Father, shared his journey of breaking away from the ideology of white supremacy embraced by his father and choosing a different path. His story of accountability, forgiveness, and personal responsibility challenged delegates to reflect on the power of compassion and reminded them that our choices help shape both our character and our communities.

Every story has a place at MetroTown. During Culture Night, neighborhood groups celebrated the cultures, traditions, and experiences that have shaped their lives through music, dance, storytelling, fashion, and personal reflection. The evening created an opportunity for delegates to share who they are, celebrate one another, and strengthen the friendships they had built throughout the week.
