"Don't let 'em open up the mountain! Do let it out." Brainstorm Media has debuted the official trailer for an indie horror thriller film titled Dark Hollow, a gory creature feature made by the filmmaker Daniel Byers. This dark monster movie is set for US release in some select theaters and on VOD right away coming up in September. When a nightmarish monster emerges from the depths of an Appalachian coal mine, a young mother must hunt down the creature to protect her home and save her family. Yet another gnarly coal mine monster movie! Not the first one we've seen - there's a few others including The Devil Below. Dark Hollow stars actress June Shreiner as the heroine of the film, along with David Garelik, J. Stephen Brantley, Brennon Weese, Ian Deighan, Jonathan Spivey, & Sean Michael Wilkinson. I dig that the monster looks like a man-in-suit concept instead of shoddy CGI. This should be scary fun to watch! Take a flashlight.

Written & directed by filmmaker Daniel Byers (Eradication, Aguilucho: Dance of the Harpy Eagle), Dark Hollow follows a young mother (starring June Shreiner) who must hunt a nightmarish creature that emerges from an Appalachian coal mine in order to save her family from evil. Dark Hollow is written and directed by indie genre filmmaker Daniel Byers, director of the film Eradication previously, as well as many other genre shorts. It's produced by Daniel Byers, Zachary Ludescher, Justin Herman, George Henry Horton, Ryan Scaringe, Jonathan Bloch, Will Pinke, Jacob Serlen, Vinay Chowdry, Juan Dominguez. This hasn't premiered at any fests or elsewhere, as far as we know. Brainstorm Media debuts Byers' Dark Hollow horror film in select US theaters + on VOD starting September 4th, 2026 this fall.
