Saturday night's The Masked Dancer saw Kimberley Walsh unveiled as Odd Socks while Denise Lewis was revealed to be the Sea Slug in a double elimination.

The Girls Aloud singer, 40, and the Olympian, 50, beamed as their masks were lifted off, despite having missed out on a place in the grand final. 

Kimberley, who shares three boys with husband Justin Scott, remarked: 'I did this for my kids! They have no idea. I had to pick Odd Socks, I'm a mum of three boys, that's my life!'

The star's disguise was so good that none of the panel - Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Peter Crouch and special guest panellist John Bishop - picked up on her identity despite a Girls Aloud hint being in every clue package. 

Detailing her reasons for signing up to the fun show, Kimberley later explained: 'My kids and my nephews are obsessed with the show and do Masked Dancer competitions every weekend so I wanted to do it for them.

'I've watched all the Masked shows with my boys but as I'm known for being a singer, I thought dancer would be more fun!'

On the difficulty of keeping her identity under wraps, she explained: 'It’s the hardest thing ever! I’m so close to my family, I feel like I have been avoiding them for weeks.

The performer went on to share that she now wouldn't be as confidence dancing with her mask, adding: 'I definitely still have nerves and I’m not sure how I’ll feel without the mask now it’s going to be very strange!'

She added of dancing in disguise: 'It definitely helps to lose your inhibitions but the weight of it is so tricky.'

Kimberley was the second celebrity unveiled on the night following Denise's earlier unmasking as Sea Slug. 

Speaking to host Joel Dommett about her experience, Denise remarked: 'It’s been outstanding, seriously!'

The former athlete went on to say she found it difficult keeping her participation a secret from her loved ones - especially her own husband.

She said: 'That has been the most challenging part of doing the show - not being able to say a word.

'Didn’t tell [my husband] … I’ve been the best student, I have to say.'

She went on to say that she'd 'hardly spoken' to her friends during this period so that she didn't 'mess up'.

Denise also revealed that she took signed up for the show as she wanted to challenge herself after turning 50. 

On her experience on dancing in a costume, she added that it was 'very strange indeed. Claustrophobic at times too but lots of fun! 

Last week's episode saw Candlestick was revealed to be former Great British Bake Off star Liam Charles.
