Being Transformed vs Transforming: How Payments Has Changed Over 18 Months

Daniel Hurst, International Line of Business Head, Enterprise Payments, EMEA and APAC, FIS Global, while at EBAday 2026 joined FinextraTV to discuss payments transformation and what areas are really driving these changes. Defining what this means in practical terms, Hurst contextualised the history of what it has meant over the years. Hurst described that, in the last 18 months, the market has outpaced strategy and planning and there is no central controller of the industry. He said it was undeniable that we are now in a hybrid market, with digital assets moving into the fore, and continued to explain what all these elements mean for the way banks approach transformational change.
