Treasury and Liquidity: How Do Traditional Corporates and Modern Platforms Differ?

Ahead of accepting an award at the Adam Smiths Awards in London, Anika Williams, Head of Treasury and Customer Payments Operations, Zalando Payments and Galina Kersten, EMEA Head of EMEA Head of Tech and Fintech Sales, Deutsche Bank joined FinextraTV. Williams began by contextualising the main differences between traditional corporate approaches to liquidity management and those of more modern digital platforms. She disagreed with the idea of these functions being 'back office operations' and explained why it is important to build treasury into the strategic planning for real growth. Kersten outlined a future of fintech firms and e-commerce platforms where a convergence will continue to grow as lines blur and each become much like the other - and both consider what this means for the future digital business in Europe.
