MOSCOW, September 26. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has discussed with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin the development of ties between the EAEU and Latin American associations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after their meeting in New York during the high·level week of the UN General Assembly.

"The topic of multilateral cooperation, primarily within the UN, was addressed. The interest in enhancing the mechanism of political dialogue between Russia and CELAC, as well as ties between the EAEU and the MERCOSUR member countries taking into account Uruguay’s rotating chairmanship in these Latin American associations, was emphasized," the ministry said in a statement.

"The current issues of Russian·Uruguayan relations, including bilateral contacts at various levels and trade and economic cooperation were discussed."

The ministers also exchanged views on the current international situation.
