”Three Wisemen” - Brother Jonah Lowrance

Brother Jonah presented the story of the three Wisemen who were studious in the Old Testament as can be seen in their zeal to seek out the Lord Jesus Christ and in the gifts they presented unto Him. This story is a lesson in the studious and zealous devotion that all Christians should have.

He did it, he was born to poor people in a poor place, stayed poor his home of life. He actually got more poor when he became a preacher. He was homeless after that, poor, lowly, why? But that's who the wise men are coming to see. That's who they're interested in. Herod's not paying attention. We need to be like the wise men. I know this is simple, but this is something we should be thinking about. We ought to be like the wise men who look through the word of God to see He trues about the Lord, to see things about their king, to understand who he was and what he came to do, where he would do it, why he would do it. I mean, you do not be like Jerusalem was, who's actually scared of the greatest thing that's ever happened to them. They're freaking out, but this is their savior, this is their king, this is the one he's supposed to deliver the people of Israel, he's supposed to be a governor over them. them. Right now, hair is not even really governor over them. The Romans are in charge. So they don't have a governor that's a Jew. They don't have anybody. They're ruled by a foreign power. They're looking for someone to free them from that. They're thinking about it the wrong way. Many of them aren't. But at the very least, you think they'd be happy that this person, though they don't understand him, is here. But they're not even happy about it. They're troubled. Why? They're not like the wise men. They're not looking into the word of God. That's one of the first things we should do. This season should be encouragement to go back to the word of God, to read it more and more and more. I have times, I'm like I've read this passage dozens if not hundreds, maybe even more than that times. Surely, I mean I can quote it. Surely it's not that significant anymore. I don't have to read that one right now. I can do something else with my time. But I don't know if you had the same experience I have but you can read the same thing over and over and over again. But if you read it, trusting in the Lord, hoping to find comfort in it, it does something different. That may sound mystical to you, but that is just a fact. It is. Very simple statements in the Word of God are profoundly powerful when you're taking the time to think about them and read them time and time again. That sounds silly, I think it's as literal, it's figurative. What is this? These guys, compared to the rest of the scriptures we're gonna see, and we're able to figure something out. That's what we could do. We would take the time to do it. Set our lives are filled up with other things. Filled up with other distractions. We have a holiday that has Christ's name in it, and yet we pack it full of stuff. That doesn't have to do with Christ, so it becomes not as helpful anymore. more, but it's time, it's a time to remember Jesus. That's what it's for, maybe dry, maybe kind of boring. But if you think about it, what is the problem with our world? What is the problem most of the time? People are distracted with the wrong way of thinking. They put other things in their mind ahead of Jesus Christ. It's exactly what Herod did. He was more concerned turn with the politics of the day, along with the whole city of Jerusalem, that the greatest person that ever walked the face of the earth was a troubling person to them. I don't want to be like that. I don't want to have it where I'm so bent out of shape, so focused on things of this world that when I come back to thinking about Jesus, it makes me worried. It shouldn't do that. It should give me hope. It should give me confidence. But it doesn't do that if I'm focused on so many other things. Instead, it makes me feel terrible, that I have not set him first. I have not thought the way that he should. I have not chosen to have the mind of Christ. I have chosen to have the mind of some politician. I have listened to them more. Perhaps I have listened to some other kind of teacher more. I am not thinking in the way that I should. And it causes me, well, anxiety causes a lot of that for me. When I get confused about how should I feel about this thing? How should I feel about this person? And how should I deal with this person a lot of that so that it doesn't matter it does matter
