La tripulación de Artemis III practicó recientemente en el Laboratorio de Flotabilidad Neutra de la NASA para simular los procedimientos tras el regreso de Orion a la Tierra.
Randy Bresnik, Luca Parmitano, Andre Douglas y Frank Rubio entrenaron para situaciones de emergencia en las que los astronautas podrían necesitar salir de Orion tras el amerizaje antes de que los equipos de rescate puedan llegar hasta ellos. Ataviados con sus trajes del Sistema de Supervivencia de la Tripulación de Orion, practicaron la salida de la nave, el despliegue de una balsa salvavidas y el uso del equipo de supervivencia a bordo.
Aunque parezca un día cualquiera en la piscina, estos ejercicios preparan a los astronautas para situaciones en las que saber exactamente qué hacer y hacerlo con rapidez puede marcar la diferencia.
Artemis III está prevista para 2027 y pondrá a prueba las capacidades críticas de encuentro y acoplamiento de Orion en órbita terrestre baja, contribuyendo así a la preparación de futuras misiones tripuladas a la Luna. 🌕

Рэнди Бресник, Лука Пармитано, Андре Дуглас и Фрэнк Рубио отрабатывали действия в чрезвычайных ситуациях, когда астронавтам может потребоваться покинуть «Орион» после приводнения до того, как к ним смогут добраться спасатели. Одетые в скафандры системы выживания экипажа «Ориона», они отрабатывали выход из корабля, развертывание спасательного плота и использование бортового спасательного оборудования.

The Artemis III crew recently practised at NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory to simulate the procedures following Orion’s return to Earth.
Randy Bresnik, Luca Parmitano, Andre Douglas and Frank Rubio trained for emergency situations in which the astronauts might need to exit Orion after splashdown before rescue teams can reach them. Wearing their Orion Crew Survival System suits, they practised exiting the spacecraft, deploying a life raft and using the on-board survival equipment.
Although it may look like just another day at the swimming pool, these exercises prepare the astronauts for situations where knowing exactly what to do – and doing it quickly – can make all the difference.
Artemis III is scheduled for 2027 and will test Orion’s critical rendezvous and docking capabilities in low Earth orbit, thereby contributing to the preparation for future crewed missions to the Moon. 🌕
