The Bruins have not yet made a huge splash in NHL free agency, and that’s not a bad thing.
This year’s class of unrestricted free agents was pretty weak, with almost no top-six forwards and very few legit top-four defensemen actually hitting the open market.
Some of the contracts handed out by teams around the league were absurd.
The Bruins only made a couple minor free-agent additions. They brought back defenseman Connor Clifton on a two-year deal, and they re-signed defenseman Jordan Harris on a one-year contract.
The Bruins also traded backup goalie Joonas Korpisalo to the Rangers in a move that freed up about $3 million in valuable salary cap space. In a separate trade, they acquired defenseman Will Borgen from the Rangers in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 conditional third-round pick.
The trade market remains the best place for the Bruins to make significant roster upgrades before next season.
