The Brazilian delegation included João Barbosa, head of the Civil Aviation Security Division within the Brazilian airspace control system (AVSECCEA) of the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA), Luciano Cantuária Pietrani, head of DECEA’s Administrative Division, and Tárik Pereira de Souza, a representative of Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
Their participation highlighted the interest of Brazil and Kazakhstan in strengthening professional dialogue and expanding cooperation on civil aviation security.
Aviation security and emerging threats
The forum focused on emerging threats to civil aviation, cybersecurity, the protection of air cargo and mail transportation, and flight safety near armed conflict zones. Participants also discussed the adoption of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, as well as the professional development of aviation specialists and the importance of stronger international cooperation.
Hosting ICAO Security Week in Astana created additional opportunities for Kazakhstan to strengthen ties with international aviation authorities. The participation of Brazilian specialists provided a platform for professional exchanges on aviation security challenges and approaches to protecting civil aviation. Cooperation in these areas is particularly relevant as aviation authorities work to address evolving security risks and adapt to new technologies.
The event also underscored the role of international dialogue in developing common approaches to aviation security and strengthening cooperation among countries, regulators and industry stakeholders.
