The GeForce RTX 60 series is not expected to arrive until 2028, but it is important to distinguish between when the most powerful models will launch and when the cheaper models will become available.

NVIDIA usually releases the most powerful models first, and months later it launches the least powerful and cheaper models. With the GeForce RTX 60 it should repeat that strategy, and according to KeplerL2 this will make the GeForce RTX 6060 arrive much later than imaginable.

KeplerL2 believes that the GeForce RTX 6060 will launch sometime in 2029, and that its performance will be lower than expected. The performance estimate is his idea, and he explains it by saying that it is based on the evolution he has seen within the mid-range of NVIDIA over the past few generations.

He’s right. The GeForce GTX 970 performed the same as or even better than the GTX 780 Ti, the 6GB GeForce GTX 1060 was almost like a GeForce GTX 980, the GeForce RTX 2060 was no longer able to perform as a GTX 1080, and the GeForce RTX 3060 performs more or less like a GeForce RTX 2070.

The thing has gotten worse with the GeForce RTX 4060, which performs worse than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, and the GeForce RTX 5060 performs like a GeForce RTX 3070. If the trend continues, the GeForce RTX 6060 could perform more or less like a GeForce RTX 4070.

KeplerL2 has also said he believes the GeForce RTX 6060 will be less powerful than the PS6 GPU. If it performs like a GeForce RTX 4070 it will definitely be less powerful than that console, because PS6 is expected to perform between the Radeon RX 9070 and the Radeon RX 9070 XT, which would place it between the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.
